Project Description:
What’s more fun than spending several hours playing basketball after a busy school day? Spending several hours playing basketball in a fully renovated and updated gymnasium!
Serving as the athletic and community hub for Young Black Motivated Kings and Queens (YBMKQ), this 3,100-square-foot gymnasium was fully renovated to create a vibrant, durable, and welcoming space for students and the surrounding community.
The renovation transforms the existing gym into a contemporary athletic environment that supports recreation, competition, and after-school programming. A new high-performance roofing system provides long-term protection and improved building performance, while a bold black-and-gold interior palette pays homage to the identity and spirit of the City of Pittsburgh.
New basketball goals, resilient athletic flooring and striping, protective wall paneling, bleachers, and scoreboards complete the transformation, creating a facility designed to accommodate everything from casual after-school games to organized athletic events. More than a gymnasium, the project provides YBMKQ students with a renewed space to play, connect, build confidence, and thrive.
