The 1,866 GSF live/work building thoughtfully integrates a community-focused farm store at the ground floor with a two-bedroom, two-bathroom residence above; creating a compact model for combining local food access, housing, and community connection within a single urban infill project.

A longtime staple of Pittsburgh’s Larimer neighborhood, LA Grocery has served as a trusted destination for Caribbean food and groceries for more than two decades. As part of an effort to expand its services and strengthen its connection to the surrounding community, a 600-square-foot addition transforms the existing single-story grocery into a destination for prepared food and neighborhood gathering.

The renovation transforms the existing gym into a contemporary athletic environment that supports recreation, competition, and after-school programming.
